Good news is that the Knights of Columbus finished 2008 setting another new record for amount of insurance issued for the year.

For the state of Kentucky, 22,740,000 of life insurance was issued for the year. Concerning Long-Term Insurance, we finished ahead of the rest of the industry though down compared with 2007.  Concerning the annuity and IRA business, it was through the roof (roughly 2,400,000)!  So overall, it was a good year.  Concerning conversion of Associate members to Insurance members, we are about 20% ahead of the pace from last year for the state of Kentucky.

Also, interest in the Field Agent positions throughout the state of Kentucky continues to grow, though we are going through a much more selective process to increase the likelihood it will be the right fit for everyone before any decisions are made.  On the staffing note, Kentucky continues to severely lag the rest of the country concerning agent staffing.  Most other states have twice the staff.  The best way to correct this is to continue educating membership on the proper perception of the career of a Field Agent.  The second major item to help this will be for the agents to continue working with the local regions for the recruitment of new members that will make good Knights of Columbus members.

The Agency force looks forward to working and growing the Order throughout the state to further strengthen Catholic families, our faith, and ensure they will be taken care of properly in the event of death.
